Norse Blacksmith Apron

Norse Blacksmith Apron

A blacksmith apron with tooled mantel in a viking/norse design.

Central to the design is a traditional depiction of Thor's Hammer entwinded with the tree of life 'Yggsadril'. Legend has it that the tree was constantly being eaten by four stags, symbolizing the eternal struggle of life and death.

The tree of life design was inspired by a period carving on a viking church while Thor's Hammer is taken from period jewelry designs, where Thor's Hammer was often worn as a talisman.

The buckles and rings on this apron where supplied by the smith whom this apron was made for.
